Joshua Hyslop
Joshua Hyslop's influences range from Iron & Wine to Ryan Adams, Wilco and Bon Iver. The prolific singer-songwriter has released five studio albums in the last decade and has reached over 400 million streams. Hyslop, a native of Vancouver, released his last album, "Westward," in April 2022, before which the musician struggled with anxiety and depression. These were triggered by the accumulation of first-time parenthood, the death of two friends and a never-ending pandemic. These emotional impressions led him back to one constant: the need to make music. In his fifth album, Hyslops comes to terms with all of these things, and in the end, we all benefit from his liberating catharsis."Pieces," the first new track in a year, was released in early May. "This is about coming to terms with the fact that vulnerability is actually a strength and the only true way to make a real connection. It's about learning how to let your guard down and not give up," Joshua Hyslop says of the song. His next album is said to be about nostalgic feelings and their connection to the confidence of growing up.
