JAMES BAY

James Bay, the English folk artist with the bluesy falsetto voice, has made an amazing transformation with his second album Electric Light. He has twice won the BRIT Award, was nominated for the Grammy three times, the album Chaos and the Calm is an incredible success, even in America. It’s about time that someone like him tries something new. Zermatt for sure will be a special experience for the singer of Hold Back the River and his fans. It will bring the old and new, more experimental James Bay to a musical synthesis.

The Alex
MILOW
http://www.milow.com

Milow and Zermatt Unplugged is the story of a long friendship. This is not surprising, because the artist’s creativity is inextricably linked to the acoustic performance. He is a gifted live performer, approachable and likable. And an enthusiastic snowboarder. Ten years ago, Milow’s big international breakthrough came with Ayo Technology. Of six studio albums, three were at the top of the charts in Switzerland. Milow is currently on stage at Night of the Proms with Bryan Ferry and Suzanne Vega. His new song Lay Your Worry Down, recorded with Matt Simons, enthralled. For the concert, which he takes on with band, seating is being set up for the first time at The Alex: The audience listens seated.

The Alex
MICHAEL KIWANUKA

https://www.michaelkiwanuka.com

With Michael Kiwanuka, Zermatt Unplugged welcomes one of the best soul musicians of the modern age. After his debut, the album Home Again, things went steadily upwards for the introverted artist from London. The album Love & Hate, which is considered one of the most important UK soul albums of all time, reached #1 in the UK and #4 in Switzerland. In early 2019 Kiwanuka opens for Mumford & Sons in Australia. Immediately following this tour, the stage at The Alex belongs entirely to a gifted musician who knows how to create something unique with minimalism and standards like no other.

Vernissage
JACK AND THE WEATHERMAN

Acoustic folk gems, melodies that make you happy and an instrumentation that you do not get to hear every day: the Dutch duo Jack and the Weatherman bring a lot of fun to the stage with ukulele, harmonica, foot tambourine, and homemade kickdrums. Last summer, the duo from Haarlem were able to try out festivals all over Europe. 14 million streams on Spotify speak for itself. And the name of their debut album makes the case: The Lucky Ones.

Vernissage
NIKO SCHWIND & JIGGLER

https://soundcloud.com/jiggler

Niko Schwind demonstrates a deep love of house music. As a DJ he has traveled around the world since 2001, playing in Europe, Australia, Thailand, Brazil, USA, and Mexico. In the Vernissage he takes Jiggler, who bursted onto the scene in 2014 with the tracks Jiggler with It and Deeper, under his wing. Both are under contract with the label Stil vor Talent, which likes to send their DJs out together in front of the party crowd. You just never know what will happen live.

Sunnegga session
ROO PANES

http://www.roopanes.co.uk

Beautiful songs of great depth, carried by a positive undertone: This is what distinguishes the songwriting of Roo Panes. The British musician is on tour with his third album Quiet Man in North America and Europe. Many of these concerts are sold out. Worldwide, as can be seen in the comments, reviews and interviews, people are touched by his music, which exudes love and hope, without being brash. Roo Panes is inspired by classical, verse, and singer-songwriters like Nick Drake and Van Morrison. His songs come from silence. They are at once comforting and combative.

Winkelmatten Chapel
BRUNO BIERI & LIONIUS TREIKAUSKAS

From Silence is the essence of Bruno Bieri & Lionius Treikauskas. In the Winkelmatten chapel the musicians make the silence audible with their voice, cello, handpan, and alphorn. Their own compositions tell stories between mountain peaks and depths of valleys. They play songs with and without words, let cheerful shouts and shouts of cheer sound, inspired by wind and weather. Voices echo in the majestic sound of the Alps. From tranquility, a concert develops with power, sound, and mischief – unplugged.
